The 2041 Foundation was founded in 1984 by polar explorer and environmentalist Robert Swan, OBE (Order of the British Empire), the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles. Robert has dedicated his life to the preservation of Antarctica, promoting renewable energy and sustainability to fight climate change. His expedition to the South Pole and dream of preservation of the polar regions inspired him to create 2041, with the mission to engage businesses and communities on climate science, personal leadership, and the promotion of sustainable practices.

In 2019, Sonnedix participated in the Foundation's ClimateForce expedition to the Artic. Two of our Team Members, Jingqi herself and Marissa Corda (EVP Global Head of Legal & Compliance) joined a 12-day journey hosted by Robert, with the purpose of:

  • seeing firsthand the impact of climate change on the polar region
  • accelerating our own sustainability practices
  • expanding our impact in creating a sustainable future by promoting the use of solar energy

The next expedition is expected in November 2021, marking 20 years left to reach 2041.

A lot has been achieved since 2041 was created, but now, with just 20 years to go, it's time to step it up.

The Foundation will appoint twenty 2041Ambassadors from twenty nations, and one to represent the Antarctic. These Country Ambassadors will spread the word about ClimateForce 2041’s endeavours and support its mission.

Congratulations, Jingqi, on becoming 2041 Ambassador for China!
